Can we crack (jailbreak) all the ps3? Can we play online after cracking it?

someone said that the latest xbox cannot be cracked.....does the same thing imply to ps3? i want to buy the latest ps3....and i dont want to buy it if i cannot crack it.....and just tell me if i can play online after cracking my ps3 (just yes or no would be enough)............please answer fast as i m planning to buy it on 10th jan
