can u join the army national guard with a mental illness?

don't tell them. there are plenty worse in there and at this point they're not checking anyway. It's more a formal thing to keep up appearances and they won't tell u this directly. they're shuffling through suicidal people and army bases today have a special room for suicide watch just about every compnay has someone who tries to kill themselves in basic today and they don't get kicked out. they get put on suicide watch like it was the psych ward. They graduate and get a job as a cook or something.

Yes you can, because my mom was in the army for seven years and she had Depression and Bipolar disorder. You just have to be careful with the medication you take, you don't want them to get out of control in the military, it's not a good thing. Ask your recruiter about it.

You can't scrub the latrines in ANY branch of military with a diagnosis of depression that requires treatment. Too great a chance that the stress of military life would cause you to completely meltdown and/or do something to yourself. The medical rules are in place for a reason.

The suicide rate of military personnel is far too high among people who have been mentally stable for their entire lives. What chance do you think you have as an depressed and anxiety-stricken person?

Get off the meds for a year WITH the consent of your psychologist, and you're good to go.

no, but your chances for SECRETARY OF STATE sound really good...have you had any people killed or done any illegal financial deals? if so, all the better!!!
