I am a regular person but i have some friends that are ex-amish. at the beach last weekend i met some of their friends who were all still amish, i spent hours with this one guy looking over the beach and having deep conversations. amish people are pretty close minded but he opened up. he never even kissed a girl and went for a kiss with me. he told me how awesome i was but that it sucks because the only way we could be together or even his culture approve of him hanging out with me would be to become amish or he'd have to leave the amish community.
he said he could never leave his amish community because he feels secure there, and is happy with his simple life but most importantly he feels he could never let down his family. its been some days since we left the beach, and he still texts me. one day he's all about trying to hang out then the next he says he can't b/c it's against his family standards. i know he likes me a lot but is scared b/c we come from different cultures which one doesn't approve of the other, so what should i do? should i just let him go or try to make him overcome his fear of dating a non amish girl and if so, how? keep in mind i never talked to someone the way me n him have talked, it's a crazy feeling we both got even the first night we met.
he has a cell phone. amish teenagers can have cell phones and do certain things like listen to music, drink occasionally and drive. that's only until they join a church, once they join a church they have to get married and settle down and follow all the rules very strictly.
