recently the love of my life left me and i lost my job, as i have been depressed and have too much time on my hands for the last 3 weeks i've been having a few beers a day and smoking about 10-12 cig's a day (had quit ages ago but stress made me feel like smoking) ...usually i am pretty fit but lately since i started doing this i've been getting some mild palputations in the heart ..could daily mild drinking and smoking be causing this or is it probably something else ?

I have the same heart issues, I'm also a smoker....
The smoking causes the heart to lack for oxygen.
Causes your heart to have issues.
Since you quit and now are back up to a half a pack a day
your body is probably in shock
quit smoking.... I'm quitting on Friday ( a month b4 nursing school starts) GOOD LUCK!

it has to stop cause drinking and smoking can
damage your heart and you can get sick.

the depression is causing the palpitations. it is a medical issue because you have depression. palpitations alone without other symptoms like dizziness or chest pain are usually harmless. since this has only started it is extremely likely this is due to your sudden lifestyle change. i know its hard but you need to get through this. visit a doctor for the depression. your smoking and drinking may not be the cause of your palps but can cause future medical issues.
