My friends termination letter stated she would have insurance "through the end of march". When she went to pick up her medication the pharmacy wanted $800 because she had no insurance. When she called to find out what happened her employer said it was a typo, it should have said "the end of Feb". It wasn't until after she tried to use her insurance, and she called them to find out what happened that they said there was a mistake. are they allowed to do that?

No..have your friend take the letter to an attorney. If it was a typo, the employer is responsible.
