Can they argue for you?

I'm looking into getting a new truck. I suck at arguing and haggling, but I have several friends, family members, and others that are great at it. They said they would go with me when I go. Can they haggle the price for me even though the dealer knows I'm buying the truck and they have nothing to do with it? Will they listen to them?

You can take whoever you wish to the dealership especially if that person is better at negotiating. It's entirely up to you. Just don't tell the dealer who the person is, that's all. Negotiate the price, and then say you'll be buying the car on your name only. That's it. I've done it for my friend once. But be careful, sometimes your friend can push you to buy the car if they think the price is right. So, it kind of works for and against you. This is why you want to know how much you're willing to spend on a car. You can also buy a pricing report (I believe it is $14) that will tell you how much the dealer paid for the car. This way, you'll know for sure how low he can go.

Sure. It happens all the time. I've haggled and negotiated for members of my family for years. It's a smart thing to do. Do it and you'll learn how to do it for yourself for next time.

Of course.

More the better. Worst thing you can do is go alone, especially if you have no idea how to haggle/buy a car.
