Can the U.S military be deployed to fight intense street crimes?

No they can't be deployed to do missions on our own soil.

EDIT-The Answer is no, National Guard can because they are State Run, Posse Comitatus Act would say otherwise
 
David, yes they can. They take the oath to fight against enemies foreign and domestic. Remember Eisenhower sent the National Guard to help little rock 9 to get into school? The answer is YES, they can. It's in the constitution
 
David is very wrong. The National Guard can and is called in on a regular bases to fight crowd control in intense situations, take 9/11 or Katrina - many active, reserves, and guard units were called in for help.

The military role is to protect our country, here and abroad.
