can the military do this?

Can the military not let you get married? What happens if you get married even tho your command thinks it is a bad idea? Can you get married without asking your command just letting them know that you ARE getting married.
and if this helps any i'm talkin about the Marine corps.
 
No one can stop you except for the fraternization reasons already mentioned. The reasons commands want to know is because everything from pay to just life changes. The military also takes responsibility for family members so they do not like surprises. It is mainly a courtesy to the command is what I am saying. If I were your future husband I would talk to your command if for noting else to get the list of everything that has to be done once married from pay to power of atty.
