Can the army really guarantee you a job?

Im thinking about going in the army to do finance or lab work, but I dont wanna join just so I can finish basic training then get handed a ticket to afghanistan to fight. Will this happen?
 
wtf? your first duty is that of a soldier. don't join the army if you can't handle that. we don't need anybody else messin' with our shit.

if you have your degree, go the OCS route and become a finance officer. don't go enlisted. please. thats all we need is some lame scout offering tax services to the taliban while our boys are gettin their heads smashed in.
 
The Army isn't going to train you and release you to the civilian world, especially on active duty. The Army has finance and medical jobs, but after training you WILL do those jobs FOR the Army.

Don't join if you aren't willing to deploy. That's so ridiculous and I'm sick of people like you expecting the armed forces to hand money over to you for nothing.
