can teenagers set up a summer gardening business?

me and my friend want to earn a bit of money , and we are both, naturally, quite handy in the garden and can do general tasks such as weeding, mowing, planting and general tidying up etc. is it illegal to hand out flyers and then do this?
i didnt really mean illegal, i just mean is it acceptable and okay to do this? and any tips for the best way about it :) thanks
 
Absolutely okay. You can tuck them into front doors, post them in businesses that give you permission, and in most areas, staple them to telephone poles.

Just don't put them in actual mailboxes, unless you mail them with postage.

But don't stop there. Talk to your neighbors, and offer your services. If you get even a few customers, I've found word-of-mouth is the best advertising you can get. If your neighbors like your work - they'll tell their friends about you.
