Can someone tell me where I can find a shorter version of the novel A Painted House?

Its not on spark notes, and the books is extremely long.
I don't want to read it, but I need to for summer reading,
and I need to get it finished by tomorrow night.
I'm about half way through,
so maybe even if anyone has read it
if they can help me out by telling me some important things that happened?
