Me, my family, my neighbors, and a friend who lives about 10 miles away have all been hearing the same sound.
The sound is very hard to describe, but I will give you a description others have given me.
1. Kind of like a radar 'ping', but it sounds distant and a bit longer.
2. If you have ever heard a train whistle (the kind of whistle a person blows that sounds like a train), it is similar to the sound the whistle makes when some one very lightly blows into it.
4. It sounds like air is flowing threw a small whole, but also sound a bit more 'man-made'.
I live in Southern California deep in an Urban area (a great distance away from any wild life.) There is no wind at all... not even a breeze.
The sound seems man-made, and will start playing randomly. We sometimes go months at a time w/o hearing it, sometimes we hear it 2 or 3 times in one week.
The sound is very distant, repeats every 3-5 minutes for about half an hour-an hour.
It sounds like maybe some kind of distant audible radar or something... again, very strange. Can anyone help me identify this?
And again, it is not just me hearing it, I have confirmed 15+ people are hearing the sound.
Just also reminding everyone: Sounds very man made, again much like a submarine's radar, but very distant.
I live in Los Angeles in a highly residential area, no wild life near me.
There is no wind outside, and the sounds play for about half an hour-an hour at a time.
