Can someone tell me about the Sacred Heart Metal? History, Story?

I got a necklace that had a metal on it. The on one side the medal it has a holy picture of a man. On the other side are the words 'pray for us' and a picture of a flower. It is catholic, and I think it's called the Sacred Heart Metal. Can anyone tell me about this Metal? It's history? I am Catholic and would like to know alot about this metal. Is it named after a Saint? Is there a story to it? All information apreciated.
 
It is a devotion to Jesus's heart, which means His unlimited love for us, His brothers in flesh.

You'd have more success googling it if you spelled it "sacred heart medal" instead of "sacred heart metal."
