Can someone recommend some good authors?

I want someone who writes serious stories and has a great sense of humor. I'm a little bit impatient so i would prefer an author who doesn't put 50 pages of nothingness between the good parts. Some of the authors whose books I've read and have enjoyed are Dean Koontz, Thomas Harris, Stephen king, andrew Klavan, and Jerry Jenkins (i ordered them in descending order of awesomeness). So anyone like them would be great.

P.S. I like jerry jenkins for his appocalyptic novels, i don't want someone who just writes religious stuff.
 
John Saul is pretty good

Also, I'd recommend Swan Song by Robert McCammon. Don't be put off by the size. It is an excellent book! It is about a nuclear winter and evil.
 
You should try Nora Roberts, (she's funny and serious) John Grisham, he's a bit more on the serious side but there is humor to his words, and James Patterson, all the way around an awesome author.
