He runs into all the really pious Christians, including the Reverend, his mentor, and his wife, Faith, who all end up at some witchcraft type meeting.
Later he wakes up in Salem, unsure whether or not the whole thing was a dream.
It's symbolic of the good being two-faced (good during the day, wicked at night) as well as Goodman Brown loosing his "Faith." It could also be an allegory for Brown loosing to temptation.
