Can someone please recommend a good vampire book? (NOT TWILIGHT!)?

I want to read a good book geared towards adults. That doesn't mean sex, just not a fluff book. I've already read the Anne Rice series, and am looking for something different.

I don't want to read how the stereotypical guy vampire (who is basically superman with fangs, psychic abilities, and major $$$) falls for ordinary human girl and Blah blah blah. I want some character depth!

I also think "vegetarian" vampires are lame.

I need a GOOD vampire book. Please help me out here. I'm desperate!
