Can someone please help me make up a sentence for these history words?

I can't seem to understand the definitions they give me in the dictionary. They are to complicated. :(
Bureau
Radical(hstory term)
Naturalization
Poll Tax
Scalawag
Carpetbagger
Sharecropping

i could probably make up a sentence if you give me a simpler definition

Bureau=a government agency (like the FBI)
Naturalization=the process by which an immigrant becomes a US citizen
Poll tax=a tax once imposed on persons for the privilege of voting (the purpose was to impose a tax that black persons could not pay)
sharecropping=a farmer and his family lived on another man's farm and worked the fields for a share of the crop
a carpetbagger was originally a US government agent sent to a southern state to help the freed slaves integrate into mainstream society & find their families
