I have another problem I need to understand before Monday. Please don't just give me the answer--explain it. Here's the problem(s):

A parachutist descending at a speed of 10.0 m/s loses a shoe at an altitude of 50.0 m.
a. When does the shoe reach the ground?
b. What is the velocity of the shoe just before it hits the ground?

The shoe has the initial velocity (u) as 10m/s

for final velocity (v) use the formula

2.a.h = v^2 - u^2

and to find time use

v = u + at
