Im in year 10. In english we have to write a speech for a debate. Im on the against panel.
Subject: This house believes that Space travel and exploitation is a waste of money. And should be Abandoned immediately.
It has to be 30- 40 secs long.
Any facts or ideas how to write the speech.

Start off by addressing the Speaker (the person who is presiding over the debate - probably your teacher) and your audience. For example: 'Mr Speaker, ladies and gentlemen...'

Then go on to tell them what you are debating. In this case you would tell them that space travel and exploitation (was it meant to be exploration?) is not a waste of money and should not be abandoned.

Then you would give them a list of points (not too many as 30-40secs is quite short) and expand on the points as you go. So for example you could suggest that space might be a valuable place to dump our waste, and then explain why. Three or four points will probably be enough, depending on how much you expand them.

Finally you would tell your audience once again that space travel and exploitation is not a waste of money and should not be abandoned, and thank the Speaker and your audience.

Hope this helps :)
