Can someone help me with Photoshop CS2?

Ok.
I open my image and the cut it out with the magnetic lasso tool, then i make a new canvas and then i drag the image onto the new canvas and it turns grey!! i need colour!! please! HOW DO I MAKE THE IMAGE COLOURED ON THE CANVAS?!?!?!
 
haha that, simple

when u make a new canvas look at the settings it gives u and 1 is selected has Greyscale, change that to RGB colour.
