Can someone help me on these pre-calc problems?

I have three that I've been racking my brain over, I really can't figure out how to do them.

I need to prove that
csc x cot = cot
and
cos(tan+cot) = csc

I'm sure it'll flood back as soon as someone explains it, I seem to remember that it has something to do with a common denominator, if you could explain it to me you'd be a life saver.

Also, I need to find the values of all trig ratios if
cos = 1/3 and theta is in quadrant four,
again, I'm not sure about this, do I use cos = x/r and set x=1 and r=3? and then use pythagorean theorem to get y? (root 8?) and then go from there? (I want to be sure before I butcher the problem :3).

Thanks a bunch if anyone can help me out, I'm more interested in knowing how you did it than the actual answer, so if you could explain it you'll really help me out.

thanks :)
