Can someone help me Jailbreak iPhone 3g 4.2.1 [most points.]?

I know this probably has been asked a ton of times, but I don't get this. Someone please help me jailbreak this iPhone 3g 4.2.1? I have a Windows computer, if that means anything? Tethered(SP?) means to loose that when you lose your battery life? There is a way to not lose it? Is that better, or will itmake it run slower? D;
