While I consider being on honor roll a worthy and important goal, you might want to have more specific objectives. If you want to excel in earth science you have to be excited about the subject (that's true of any subject). The good thing about earth science that always keeps me excited is that it is all around me. We LIVE in earth science. You can't eat a meal, get dressed in the morning, look out the window, or go to sleep without earth science. I look at the mountain range behind my house, and see plate tectonics. I look at the beach and the surf every morning and see oceanography and planetary processes. When I walk on a sidewalk I see concrete made from limestone, sandstone, and energy from petroleum coke or coal. Once you start trying to figure out what and how everything is made of, you realize that if you can't grow it, you have to mine it, so earth science involves every part of your day. Then I go to work every day and try to figure out the structure and makeup of parts of the planet that are a few miles deep- but that's just me.
I always answer email questions from Yahoo Answers. I've taught earth science (at the college level- but I can tone it down). Just ask. I don't participate here enough to notice all your questions. Ask directly. If I have time (sometimes I travel in places where there is no internet) I'll answer. But if you aren't somewhat inspired by earth science, its going to be hard to be an A student. Teachers can tell who is inspired.
