Can someone give me some road bike help?

I'm trying to buy a road bike, but I look at the tires and see them as too skinny, is there a weight limit on the tires, and is it harder to control than a mountain bike, I usually ride montain bikes offroad, but now that I'm in a city I need to get a road bike, I'm looking at bontrager type wheels since I see them on every bike in the store, but my questions were asked, is there a weight limit, and is it harder to control/balance on a road bike because of the skinny wheels, thanks.

actually as a rider of both myself, i would argue that roadbike wheels track smoother and straighter than knobby mountain bike wheels and if you're worried about weight, don't. my best friend is 285 lbs and he rides the skinniest roadbike i've ever seen. as long as your wheels are round and your spokes are tight, you'll never crush the wheels no matter what you weigh. as for the brand of wheels, i'm partial to mavic myself.

hi, consider, please, for a second, the amount of tire that is actually making contact with the ground while you are on the bicycle.
think about it for a mountain bike tire and a road bike tire. does it really seem like one tire would be inherently harder to "balance" than another?

any perceived difference would be in your head.

you're seeing bontrager wheels because you're in a store that carries trek bikes.

you can always buy narrow tires that would fit your mountain bike. even if you don't see them in the store, they can order them for you.
