Hi, kind of a long story so I will try to make it short.

About 30 years ago my MIL hurt her back and had to have back surgery.

About 10 years ago, she fell down her sisters stairs and had to go all over everything again except for the back surgery, she had the physical therapy the anti inflammatory drugs, mri, nothing worked except for the shots, she started the series of the 3 shots but only had to take 2 of them.

We now fast forward into the future, my MIL was doing stuff she should not have been doing, she promised us she would not move this heavy stuff until we got over the next morning. She started 2 hours before we got there and looked like death by the time we got there. My husband and I were pretty pissed. Anyway, she hurt herself so bad that she can barely walk with the sciatica pain. All of this went down over a week ago. She is a very stubborn woman, may I add.

I called her back doctor yesterday and they can't get her in until Septeraber 8 to see her. She says that she can't wait that long. Really, she can't wait that long. The 16 years that I have known this amazing woman, I know when she is in so much pain that she can't take it.

So my MIL niece told us yesterday, either call her Primary care doctor and see if he can get her something until that point or go to urgent care and let them take care of the matter.

Could someone tell me what she should do?

Thanks for the speedy answer.

Well, it all depenRAB on how much interaction she has with her GP. If you think he will help, then go to him. The worst that can happen will be that he tells her to wait until she sees her back doctor. At that point I would head to a doc-in-the-box to get her seen by someone until then.

good luck!

Hi Ibake&pray,

My MIL went to the doctor on Tuesday and her doctor gave her a prescription of Vicodin for the pain and then gave her some steroiRAB for the inflammation, she took the first 6 pills on the first day, 5 on the second, now today is her 4th day and she had to take 4 pills. She is in the same amount of pain if not more today. She is just so uncomfortable. I feel so bad, I wish the pain could be sent to me so she would not have to go through all of this.

The doctor wants her to come back on the 30th to see if it is any better, I am looking up about it but I don't know. Then she had made an appointment with the back doctor and had never cancelled it, so maybe if her PCP can't help she will just have to go on the 8th of Sept to the back doctor. Maybe they will be able to give her the shot.

My MIL is not one for sitting and relaxing and resting during the day, she has to be always doing something. I wish there was something that I could say or do to make her sit and be good, I think I have tried it all though.

Anyways, I hope and pray that this will all work.

Thanks
