reading books? Also, how to remembe? r what she/he has read after they read the book? I am having a hard time with this she would read it but she sounds like a robot.

I agree with Cat. Think about it - there are literally thousands of books out there - there MUST be something that she is interested in. A good start I've found is finding one that is funny. Once you've found something she likes, get her to read it to you and you can both comment on it whilst she is reading it (which might also help her to remember) My daughter is 8 and loves Roald Dahl and the Bloody History books. I've also just bought the Lemony Snicket books which look good!
Good luck...

Maybe you aren't picking books for her that capture her interest? e.g. you've got her reading a book about playing soccer when she loves horses or wants to read fantasy books instead of normal fiction?
About reading aloud - the only thing I can think of is maybe reading it aloud to her first, using silly voices and the proper inflections and trying to get her to copy you?
Hope that helps!

It sounds like her comprehension is not that good. Instead of giving her hugh books to read on her own read to her and ask her questions at the end. Another thing that may work is rereading the story.

For example: What happened first? Then what happened? How did the book end? What was your favorite part? What was your least favorite part? Did you like the book? Why or why not?

Edit: I meant to say give her books for her reading level and not age level and then ask her questions about the books.
