Can SOMEONE explain to me why ITV2 have cut Back To The Future 2, to ribbons?

I could understand if some of the scenes contained offensive material - but some scenes are cut for seemingly no reason at all. A scene in the Cafe 80s was cut out - where Marty Junior pushes Griff and his cronies to the ground. What the hell is wrong with ITV?

I actually feel sorry for Zemeckis and Spielburg who have to watch their films trashed to pieces.

Did they cut the bit where Biff calls him "chicken" and that makes him stand up to him?
That's really important to the plot! Why bother showing it if you're not going to show it properly ITV?!

That particular line was in there but they cut: Marty pushing his cronies to the ground (WHY!?!) and prior to that, a scene where Marty orders a Pepsi from the computer minor in Cafe 80s (again, why!?!)

Because it didn't fit into the scheduling slot at it's original length?

After all, in the old days advertising was the devil's compact which allowed a creative set of companies to finance television production. These days programmes for itv seem to be contractually obligated nuisances which just interfere in the main business of raking in advertising revenue and which can be hacked around with to suit the demanRAB of the schedule.

They did the same thing to 'The Mummy' a few weeks ago ! they cut out one of my fave dialogues just because Johnathon used the word 'Bugger':D they wreck great films with their editing .

I remember a few years ago they actually cut out the end of a dream sequence in "The Princess Bride" and then went to adverts thus making the plot completely nonsensical ie. the Princess marries the wrong guy halfway through the film with no explanation.

The same thing is happening to On Her Majesty's Secret Service today - cutting off mid-sentence to go to adverts - so annoying and spoils the whole film - you can't follow some of the plot as you miss dialogue in certain crucial places. Ridiculous ITV

Buy them on DVD it is easier.

This is why I don't watch films on television any more as some moron decides to cut great big chunks out.

ITV have been cutting films to fit in a slot for more than 30 years.

But I dont really have any sympathy for anybody daft enough to watch any movies on ITV at all.

You can get the whole series on dvd for under a tenner

I rarely watch movies on ITV these days, although BBC 1 and BBC 2 are much better. By the way, has anyone seen Man On Fire on DVD? I watched it the other day having recorded it on my DVD recorder from BBC1, I was wondering if that had been cut.

And yes, its the running times which are being altered for the damn adverts!!!!

Well if they can cut to adverts during a football game (missing the late winning goal) then I'm sure they feel they can cut any film to ribbons.
