i have a bestfriend. we both have feelings for eachother but think is i'm only 15 and he's 18. he graduated. he's going into the army. we decided to try and be together when he comes back ? he leaves on june 30th and returns october 19th. i'm just wondering what happens during these months ? does he go to iraq or what? i'm kind of ignorant to this so yeahh. and after these four months does he have to go back? :| and if he does how long is he here for and just explain to me please.

Well it all matters what he signed up to do, if he is just leaving he is probably just going to basic training here in the us where he will also learn what ever it is he signed up for. He probably then has a break to see you (oct.19th). I think the smallest contract the army has is 2 years, with 4 years reserve, at anytime during those 6 years he can be called in to do his duty's, due to his contract. During his standard 2 years of combat he could be (most likely) sent to the middle east to serve with whatever he was trained to be, he has 30 days per year of service to visit (time not chosen by him)

Your freind is joining a very noble cause, and dying on the field of battle is one of the most honorable and glorious ways to leave this world and enter God's divine kingdom. Here is what happens. He is going off to basic training for a few months, comes back for a little while, and apon his return to base, he should be shipped. That is, unless he is excused from shipment due to a special role or job. He will fight on something called a tour. I know men who have been on 4 or 5 tours in Iraq. I believe he has a choice to do more than 2 tours. He'll be alright, don't sweat it. The mortality rate right now is consiterably low.

1. He will go to basic training
2. He will go to Advanced Individual Training (AIT) this will be his job training
3. He will get leave to come home for a certain amount of time
4. He will be shipped to his permanent Duty Site (where he is stationed)
5. He may or may not be shipped overseas to Iraq or Afghanistan

What happens will be highly dependant upon his job.

What he is doing is called basic training more than likely and he will NOT go to Iraq or Afganistan during that time period....... maybe later... but not now.....
