Can someone explain ACT! for me?

My understanding was that it is a contact management/schedule/to do program.

I downloaded it and am trying the trial, but upon looking at it, it looks like it is a corporate database management system for things such as sales tracking, etc.


Can anyone make this clear for me? It seems a little complicated.
 
ACT! is very complicated. The main use of ACT! compared to other desktop PIM's is that it's very contact-centrict so you're able to follow up on possible sales leads and plan sales campaigns. You'll find more information at http://www.act.com/community/tips/index.cfm along with some links to other Act! newletters and tutorials. Personally, if you're not a sales person, I think that ACT! is the wrong choice.
