can someone convince me to buy nokia E50?

The standard right top side key as default is allotted to the contacts. It opens up quite fine. But then the search really bogs down after entering the first letter. After finding the contact, opening it takes 4-5 seconds which is simply unacceptable. I have about 900+ contacts and just a couple with photos.

My point is that my 7610 with the same database, never displayed such laggy searching / opening.

gotcha! If it's opening quickly and then laggin you've probably just got too many contacts. I try to keep mine condensed or else it gets out of control like yours. I have a weekly hit list! I put a few contacts on my phone a week as I meet new people and I usually hit people who I dont really think make the cut. I wish Nokia could make a contact counter to see how frequently we call each contact.

it would help if you keep the contacts running always in the background.... to do this i usually, open the address book, then hit the menu key, and from there hit the reb hangup button to exit...

Makes no difference, I have tried that. On the contrary, leaving contacts or any app open, eats CPU/memory and consequently adversely affects battery life.

Another problem with v3 (vs v1-7610) is that any action you take from contacts / log, still leaves those apps open. So every night (I have given up during the day) I press the menu button and close all the running apps to save battery life.

an open app does eat up mem, but i doubt it will consume more bat life...

and why not just charge it every night, it will make your E50 happy...

one thing i noticed is that the contacts seems to be poping out faster when i press the right top side button that is i think the dedicated "push to talk or voice call" button
