Can somebody suggest some books written by minority authors?

I have to choose 2 minority authors and one of each of their books, who have used writing as a way of being heard, and what they were trying to convey to the readers. For one, I was thinking Alice Walker's "The Colour Purple" - am I right, and if I'm wrong can anybody suggest a couple more that I could use? Thanks, I appreciate it!

Noughts and Crosses, by Malorie Blackman.

It's a novel set in a world where being white is what gets you looked down on.

Go Tell it on the Mountain, James Baldwin
The Invisible Man, Ralph Ellison
Sula, Toni Morrison

The Beet Queen, Louis Erdrich (Native American)

The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros (Mexican American)

The Bonesetter's Daughter, Amy Tan (Chinese American)
