A Bill to Regulate Tobacco Sales
1 Be it enacted by the Student Congress here assembled that:
2 Section 1. Only persons age 21 or older may purchase, consume or use tobacco
3 products.
4 Section 2. Any person younger than the age of 28 must present an ID or proof of age
5 prior to 4 purchasing any tobacco product.
6 Section 3. Any person under the age of 21 who buys, uses or consumes any tobacco
7 product will be punished by a fine not to exceed $500 for the first offense and a fine
8 not to exceed $1,500 for any subsequent conviction, and imprisonment not to exceed
9 one year.
10 Section 4. Anyone who sells tobacco products to an underage buyer may be fined up 11 to $1,000 for each offense.
12 Section 5. This bill will go into effect January 1, 2010.
