Can SMT 5600 be unlocked and used on Verizon?

I've owned the SMT 5600 for over a year and love it. However, I have come to hate Cingular service. I'd like to go back to Verizon. Can this phone be unlocked and switched to Verizon, or do these two carriers use different systems? My experience with Verizon in the past was far superior in terms of coverage, but I switched to Cingular to get this phone.

Well, it's been over a month, but anyway...Nope, you can't use the 5600 on Verizon's network. Cingular and Verizon use different digital wireless technologies that are not compatible with each other.

If you are looking for unlocked cell phones, search for "Unlocked cell phones". It will give you a list of retailers in the business selling "dual, tri/ quadband unlocked cell phones" You will have to purchase separate sim cards through T mobile. I have been using unlocked cell phone for 4 years and discuss what your intention is so far as just able to make calls etc.
