it really does not sound all that 'likely" just considering that most 'cysts" tend to fill with what is called epithellial(SP?) fluid(or fluids that tend to make up where the cyst simply is sitting in your body/organs)? but if this is actually filling with blood instead, well then i guess it could be linked to that in some way?
i just happen to have a kidney disease called polycystic kidney disease that has created humongous globs of cysts both in my kidneys and now my liver(they are pushing healthy tissue out of the way and just 'movin in there",thus very much enlarging the organs now too)? the kidney cysts are filled with 'some" blood but most are totally the epithellial fliud, but the liver cysts are mostly bile salts?
is this long cyst actually running along your spinal column, the spinal cord or IN your spinal cord? do they know just how it even got there? that would make a bigger difference in mostly what it even could be 'filled with"? but if this were blood, it would show up on either a good CT or MRI tho. personally, i don't think the cyst itself is directly connected to a low iron just based upon THAT alone? there just can be many many different reasons for esp any given woman to have low iron.
what exactly IS that cyst created from, or do you not yet know that? how/why was that even discovered, symptoms you were having of some kind that just prompted that scan? do you have any cysts anywhere else in your body, or just that long cyst? the one thing about fluid filled things in our bodies as well as larger bruises we can just get too since they also contain pooled blood in the bigger ones? at times it may 'appear' that things are getting "bigger" or longer only because gravity rears its head and with a low resistance(space within the pocketed area) that whole thing can actually look like it is getting longer/larger but in reality? it is merely being "pullled downward" by the normal gravitational pull that is always around us and does also impact our bodies too kinda thing? just somehting to keep in mind when anything is more 'pocketed' and filled with anything fluid too. things can always simply 'appear" longer/larger from the 'pull down" and that would be a more natural type thing? but if anything is actually becomming wider, now that may be an issue.
did ANY other labs come out out of the norm range or "just" that iron? what did your treating doc have to say here? just remember that many many women out there simply DO tend to run much lower in the iron dept than most men would. and its NOT all that uncommon either? but DO speak to your doc about possible more specific reasons for YOU and your body to be lower in iron. just knowing cysts way too well, and only if your cyst does not contain blood but simple fluid, i really do not think the two really are not related, but that is what you need to really discuss with your treating doc too.
