Can rented receivers returned at any time?

I have 4 rented receivers at the begininig of a two year contract. If I decided to purchase a PVR from ebay, can I simply return one or am i stuck with it for the two years? Also, will the HD receivers still work even on the Digital programing? Does a dual tuner use up 2 of the permitted 6 receivers on an account or do they consider it one receiver? That question seems to be asked quite a bit but seems to get mixed reviews for answers.
 
Yes, you can return your rental receivers at any time. If you return your rental receivers before the expiry of your contract, there is an early return fee starting at $99 per receiver.

You may need the Nimiq 2 upgrade which is free with a 1 year subscription to paid HD programming.

For the 6 receiver limit, a Dual Tuner HD-PVR counts as one receiver.

For installation purposes, you are charged installation fees per tuner in some circumstances. If you require professional installation for a fifth (or additional) tuner a second dish ($99+) would be required.
 
Yes it will but if you only have SD programming right now that is all you will get with the HD receiver, as you will almost certainly NOT have the second LNBF to pick up the HD signals. It would help to know what receivers you are Renting.



Bell TV, will almost NEVER install a second Dish for the 5th Tuner as cslusarc says, this scenario would be done by installing multiple SW44's.



This is ONLY applicable as FREE, if you currently do not have any programming from the second bird. It, for example, you have speciality channels from 82 degrees right now, you would not need an Upgrade, you could just remove an SD receiver and replace with an HD one and increase your programming to include HD if you wanted to.
 
The early return fee on a rental is $50. It used to be $99 just for the last one.

It is only fair to charge for breaking a Contract, at $99 I think you are getting away lightly.

If you had bought your HD box at $99, then accepted a free installation for signing a 2 Year Contract, you would still have to pay an early termination fee but at least you could sell the HD receiver.
 
you do NOT pay any ETF fee on the 'first' returned rental receiver under contract. all others will have the 50 dollar fee.

I had an older pvr, just started renting a new dual one, so I'm cancelling my old rental agreement, with 5 months left, and there will be no termination fee. It's on the bell website as well.
 
Can you point us to the Bell page where this is stated, as it is a major change of direction.
 
If the client cancels his rental to upgrade them (cancels RENTAL 3100 to have RENTAL 6100 for example) then there is no ETF. It used to be different in the past, even if a client was cancelling his rental to have an upgrade they had to pay an ETF

If the client cancels his rental because he purchased a receiver he then pays a ETF if rental contract has not expired
 
The key word here is uppgrade. To generalize even more than posted above, Bell does not charge an ETF for an upgrade. This typically means upgrading from SD to HD and sometimes must also be a HD PVR model rather than the current 61xx series.
 
5900s are no longer available to upgrade to, due to lack of availability.

During the contract, the customer can upgrade his/her rental from an SD to HD or an HD PVR, or from an HD to an HD PVR. This can be done for one receiver without the early term fee.

Installation charges will apply, however, unless they also take part in the Nimiq 2 Upgrade.

Possibly, but very unlikely. My guess is it would be a different receiver mislabelled as a 1000.

If you need an RMA for a 5900, you can still get one.

I always thought the 1000 predated the rental contract.
 
MDU. I think you could be right about the 1000 model.

I wonder if there are still Customers paying the old Rental Fees.? I would guess that would be a yes....
 
No probs.
They're still available for new customers (rental), but not for long, I suspect.
 
I think they were all migrated to the new rental fees back in 2007...maybe one of the Bell CSR's on the site could confirm.

I was, at the time renting 2X3100...the first one was I think 10.99$ a month with a 4$ and the second one 7.99$ with a 2$ credit. When they hired me at Express Vu in te training class we were discussiing the cost of the rental units. I taught the teacher was making a mistake, he was saying that 4100 were only 2.50$ (at that time). He then explained me the old rental programm, and the new one. I returned my 2X3100 and got a 5900
 
I suppose it will work as usual...if you have it you could keep it, but if you don't too bad! I was surprised to asee some people where still renting 2700, and I even taught I saw a 1000 being rented as well
