Can ranting and raving on the Internet be as therapeutic as "primal scream therapy"?

Can it become addictive?

I've always been shy, reserved, reticent to express myself emotionally or even to share opinions in real life and remain so, but I am finding myself not only sliding into the habit of really "going off" online and, even though I regret it terribly afterward, I must admit there's no small satisfaction in it. Even when I don't even believe the things I am spewing.

Is spouting vitriol on the Internet a safe outlet for male aggression that is socially unacceptable in any other context?
I'm behind a dedicated three-homed firewall running OpenBSD with a DMZ and a honeypot and a separate system doing IDS and logging and my personal systems all run some UNIX flavor, so I am not too worried about hackers... not here anyway. More the ethical and mental health issues.
