I feel that when you have a private Instant Messaging conversation, it gives the feeling of being private, but anything in type (unless work-related protected) can be shared and exposed. For example, any IM conversation can be recorded in a chat log and posted on a blog or any website with the names posted as well. Seeing that even famous people have their "private" text messages can be brought to the public, I wonder if the posting of any chat log is "legal" (again, unless otherwise work related and protected by law). I do think that bringing this to people's attention will remind them that nothing on the internet is private. So I know this may not exactly been the right thing to do, but is it alright to post chat logs without the other person's permission?
Can private YIM chat logs be posted publicly?
