Can people use my cellphone number to prank call others?

Ive been getting random phone calls from numbers ive never seen before and one time some kid kept texting me saying not to call him again. I never get to my phone to pick it up when these randoms call, but I find it odd that they even have my number when I havent seen them before or are even in the area of the state that these are from... any ideas? and if this IS happening is there a way to stop it?

i would say the best is to change ur cell number to stop it once and for all. =/ im sorry, that must be annoying

yes. its called phreaking phone lines and it's basically hacking them. the only thing is to change your number.
