Can not program verizon Fios Remote?

Ok, so I keep trying to program a New TCL 32" for christmas, and there is no code for the tv, I did the thing where you press tv+ok, press 922, press play, then press fast forward a whole lot, then it never turned off the tv. It flashed the little light on it here and there, but will not do anything else. This is becoming a huge fucking pain I have been trying to get this piece of shit remote to work for hours and hours. If you don't know that then how can I program the TVS remote to the Verizon fios receiever? I would rather use the verizon fios remote but IDK if I can
