Hi, I'm 20 years old and I've been out of high school for about a year and a half now.
My family came to the US on a L class visa about 16 years ago on a sponsorship that went bad.
So anyways, I know we were supposed to leave but there were alot of problems so this is the situation right now.......
This week, I tried to apply to my local community college and they said they (couldn't, won't) accept me. They advised me to talk to an immigration lawyer and she also pretty much said what I already knew.
In my situation, since I've been out of status for so long there is nothing I can do, except to get married which isn't going to happen anytime soon.
She also said that in Washington State and some other states, I can still attend school even though I'm illegally here if I sign some type of form? Not sure if this is true, I went to Bellevue College and they still refused me.
So, my question is, can I really go to college, at least a community college in Washington? Does anyone know of any colleges that won't refuse me?
Also, I was thinking about studying in Canada or Australia. Would I be able to immigrate there while in the US illegally? That would also take years and years, and I need to get an education while I'm still young.
