Can my parents legally take my car if it is in their name if I have made

payments for years from my account? Hello, I am a Texas resident who recently moved out of my parents house against their will. In frustration with my decision, they told me that they would report my car as "stolen" to the police if I did not return it immediately.

I have been making direct payments from my personal banking account on this car for a couple years now and I'm very close to paying it off (only a couple thousand dollars left). Unfortunately, I was too young at the time that the car was purchased to put it in my name. Therefore, the car is in their name.

I am an average student and I do well with my job. I am very responsible, at least enough to make it on my own. And I would be ok financially if I had a way back and forth from my job and I didn't have to worry about making a down payment on a new car.

Now I am stuck with no way to school or back and forth from my job. Therefore, I can make no money to purchase a new car.

Is there any legal issue here? Anyway for me to get my car back? I know it is a long shot as it is in their name, but I would really appreciate any advice I can get. Thank you in advance!
