Can my kid chat with me on my laptop from their Nintendo DS since I have

WiFi in the house? I travel alot and my kid is getting good with the chat on Nintendo DS. Is there anyway for me to chat with them from the office on my laptop and them on their Nintendo DS?
 
Not without modifying the DS.

The DS chat is for people who are on the DS and are in a nearby area.

BUT

I've seen this before (but since it is your child, i wouldn't recomend it) :
I've seen people put an IRC client (Internet Relay Chat) on their DS and talk from there. But, IRC is...well... like a chat room. There are people who swear alot.
