Can my grandfather's association with the military help me gain financial

aide/scholarships for college? At one point, my paternal grandfather served in the military (I am not sure which branch of the military or the time of his service). He is now retired, but I am wondering if his past association with the military can help me earn scholarships or such for school

Probably not, usually those kinds of scholarships are for dependents of current military members or veterans.
