Can my company read my text messages?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~do they own the account? If so they can purchase third party service (not through t-mobile) to record what's said in text I've heard of parents doing to their kids but privacy policy t-mobile does not record what's in text if it is through a third party they can provide the info but the service has to be paid for and permission give for them to record

If you're on the company's BES and they have SMS logging enabled, then yes, they can read them. Also emails, PIN messages, and everything else you do with a handset on their BES. If it's not on BES, then it would be a little bit more roundabout, as outlined above, but still possible. If the company pays for it, the best policy would be to keep personal stuff on your personal phone.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~yeah didn't even think of if its on bes but that's right I am just used to being asked the question from parents checking up on kids 50 times a day

But I do fully agree keep private stuff private don't take the risk same goes for tzones and web browsing

Thanks everybody. Is there a way to see if they have sms logging enabled? thanks! I agree we should keep stuff off but we cannot always control what is sent to us.

I can tell you that although your average "sales representitive" doesnt have the ability, your messages are far from private. With the correct paperwork and the right channels, all of your information can be obtained. Scary thought, isnt it?

yes it is Tommybp....I figure if legal or whoever wants you they can get to you. My primary question is if the text messages are routinely logged and therefore visible to anyone in IT who takes a look. Any additional insight is appreciated!

You could always ask someone in the IT department about it.
I don't know how your company works, and I'm not recommending you do something against policy. However, it is possible to log the messages, it's just a matter of whether or not it's being done. As a routine, probably not, but if there's a paranoid or malicious boss somewhere, then maybe he makes it his passion to look.
