can my brother go to jail [CANADA, ONTARIO]?

my brother got charged for robbery threating and conspiercy with his friend hes turning 17 soon and its his first time ever to get charged whats the most that can happen to him? can he go to jail anyone know a list of things that can happen to him? and he doesnt have the money himself for a lawyer can he get a public defender or will they ask my parents to pay for his lawyer fees and anyone know how much it is for a cheap lawyer but that will do the job right
its his first time ever going to court so will the court go easyer on him?

no it wasent armed robbery but at the end he didnt take nothing from the person he just punched him in the face once
 
It depends on the judge and the jury, but because it was premeditated, it is highly likely that he WILL be sent to jail.

If not, he sounds like he deserves to be. If he is in fact guilty, the system should enforce some kind of punishment, or at least hopefully.

Question: was it armed robbery?
