Can mini rex rabbits live outdoors in cold weather?

We live in North Carolina and my girlfriend is worried if her rabbit is left outside during the winter months it will die. its housing has cover and if it gets windy/rainy/snowy/too cold we usually move it into a storage room or indoors. at the moment it hasn't really gotten below 35 and she is worried it will die even at these temperatures.

Anyone know what kind of temperatures they can sustain outdoors with adequate shelter?
