Can mercury in fish affect your intelligence/IQ?

Yesterday I read an article from the NY times that advised pregnant women to stop eating tuna because of its high levels of mercury, a neurotoxin that can affect brains. And now I'm worried as hell, because I've been eating tuna (about one or two cans a week) for my entire life. It was the only fish I liked when I was a kid, so my parents fed me with it the whole time, ignoring they were poisoning me! I'm 20 now.

I'm afraid those high doses of mercury I had when I was a kid affected negatively my IQ or intelligence. My IQ is very normal, about 105, but maybe it could have been higher if I'd eaten less tuna as a kid. Last night I couldn't sleep thinking about that.

So, experts in health, could you please elucidate my doubts, and tell me if mercury in tuna can affect IQ? Am I worrying too much about this stuff? Please, I appreciate your answers.

Note: forgive my bad english -- I'm still learning it.

Here's the article from the NY times.
