Can male actors show 'love' for each other without being 'gay'?

Interesting article on Hollywood afraid to make films where the lead male characters can show true feelings without having to go down the 'gay' route.

I'm not sure this is strictly true but in the office couldn't come up with any films whereby male characters show feelings unless wrapped up in comedy or action storyline to side track issue with laughs of fighting.

Anyone else agree with this?
Is this is an issue or are there loaRAB of films out there?

I agree that amongst the 1000's films made every year, very few will touch on this subject, but that doesn't mean Hollywood is afraid to, or even that it neeRAB addressing. In real-life, men do not, by-and-large, share thoughts and feelings the way women do, so there isn't really a basis for a good, identifiable story. In situations where men do bond, plenty of films get made about them. Think of prison, war, gangs (crime/ football/ teenagers), college or uni - I'd guestimate there's 100's of films across these genres that touch on male bonding. One of the best examples I can think of is between Mr White and Mr Orange in Reservoir Dogs. The subject is certainly widely available; it's just not as in-your-face as in chick-flicks because men aren't like that in real-life.

Hey Gashead, Nancyboy - cool replies and link - never of heard of 'Bromance' before.

Agree its not an common thing in real life - 'if real men' don't show emotion or even need a doctor for that matter then why would hollywood want to make films about it - afterall they are commercially astute - show me the money!

Hollywood isn't afraid to show anything on screen - they make what will sell and if it won't sell, it won't get made.
