My Father contracted malaria while doing some charity work in Sri Lanka. Yesterday, I helped him remove a splinter from his finger, and then stupidly pricked myself with the lancet I used, as I was replacing it's 'safety' cap. Although his splinter was superficial and none of his blood was present, I am still worried that I may have caught malaria, as the lancet did draw blood from me. I do not want to rush to the doctor's surgery without good reason. Please help!
Can Malaria be caught through contaminated sharps?
