Can lawyers take away my means to make a living?

I had a suit against me for a certain amount of money. I was judged to pay the money and a lien on my future earnings was put in place in the range of 25% of my paycheck. I am unemployed but planning to work far from home very soon. I would need to buy a mode of transportation such as a car or motorcycle. The government owed me money and will soon send me a check for back tax refund money, and I will receive in full a loan I let a friend borrow a few years back. With this money I plan to buy wheels so I can work. My question is, can the lawyers take away my wheels? Can I argue an exception since I need reliable transportation to continue to go to school and work?

Every state has different rules regarding property that is exempt from seizure. However, no state excempts money from seizure, no matter how you plan to spend it. If you were to make this argument to a court, the court would advise you to get a bus schedule or find work and a home within walking distance of each other.
